CoResolve is a 2 day course for managers and leaders who find themselves working with interpersonal, team and client dynamics. Based on the underpinnings of the Lewis Method of Deep Democracy, this specialized course covers the theory and practice of managing up, managing down and managing across within complex organizations. CoResolve training increases leaders’ capacity to succeed in turbulent times by offering practical tools for working with differences in a group and turning destructive conflict into creative tension. It is a highly experiential course and applicable to both experienced and emerging leaders

What you will learn in this CoResolve course:

  • A coherent understanding of how conflict emerges and strategies for preventing conflict escalation
  • A simple 4-step approach to facilitation productive discussions and avoiding common pitfalls in group communication
  • A step-by-step approach to dealing with a polarized issue one-on-one with a colleague, client, or partner
  • An alternative decision-making mechanism for groups and individuals that is more efficient than a vote and less time-consuming than consensus building

Jorge Salazar  Jorge Salazar is a community activist, trainer and leader in the non-profit world. Jorge came to Canada as a refugee from Colombia in early 2000s. He uses his own immigration journey, life experiences, training and education to bridge communities and facilitate positive change.  He currently works as the Director of the Inner Activist, a project of MakeWay Canada (http://www.inneractivist.com/). He is also involved in multiple other community initiatives to advance social justice issues in diverse communities. In 2011, Jorge co-founded Fresh Voices in partnership with immigrant and refugee youth and allies. Fresh Voices gathered a network of more than 200 migrant youth to address systemic issues and create opportunities by advocating for policy change in British Columbia. At the core, Jorge’s work is about opening spaces for inclusive facilitation and systems change while focusing on community empowerment within an anti-oppression and decolonization framework.

Sera Thompson is a social innovator and master facilitator whose work is focused on building capacity for participatory leadership and creating a movement around complex issues. Her work creatively engages a diversity of players and stakeholders in finding shared clarity and timely actions. She began her career in the complex field of Environmental Consulting, juggling the needs of diverse stakeholders balancing economic, ecological and social sustainability. Since that time she has successfully led. change with dozens of organizations on four continents in the Public Sector, Academia, Nonprofit and Corporate sectors.
